Three mile island and Chernoble did not pollute as a function of nuclear power...they polluted as a function of nuclear accidents. Nuclear accidents are not a necessary or predictable part of nuclear power generation.
Nuclear power generation offers extremely low pollution. The control rods for the Pilgrim Nuclear power plant for the next (somewhere on the order of) 50 years (B please correct me if I'm wrong) are stored in an onsite facility (pool) that measures approximately 20' x 20'. There are no other waste products created. Kurt
