Re: 2011 SPBLI Regional

I thought it was a great Regional all around.

Robotigers from NJ were #1 seed and chose another "out of town" team as their first pick (229 Division by Zero). I'd like to think that they were surprised at the level of competition they received from the local Long island teams.

Lots of enthusiastic folks in the stands, especially during the elimination rounds.

I personally thought the best rounds of eliminations were in the semi-finals as the scores were closer and the game was neck and neck all the way.

The 3 rookie teams that attended all went away with awards. 2 of them did not look like rookies at all. 3460 from Brentwood was hanging tubes in autonomous which was sort of un-rookie like. The other rookies had similar performance as well.

Team 329, the Raiders from Patchogue-Medford won the Chairmans award for their second time. Nice work!!

Teams 870 and 353 shared their mini-bots with a few other teams. As a matter of fact 353, the PoBots had 2 of their mini-bots in the elimination rounds even thought they were already out of the competition.

I know there's more highlights from the weekend and hopefully others will add to this list.

Oh, one more thing. Lots of great pics and some videos at www.msgvarsity.com and also at www.newsday.com

No problem 810, you guys looked really impressive and stepped up during your last few Saturday Qualification Matches, and that's why we picked you.

The RoboTigers Team 1796, are based out of Queens, NY and were actually the #5 seed at the end of the Qualifications. Also we picked 329 as our first pick, a local LI team.
I believe you are mixing us up with 1626, the #1 seed out of NJ...

It was a fun regional, can't wait to be back next year.

Re: 2011 SPBLI Regional

I also agree it was a spectacular regional. Congrats to all you guys for your awards and regional victories. Us at Comsewogue unfortunately had problems with our minibot/minibot deployment and had to give up on some rounds. It's always a blast to play the game with all you guys.
Lastly, it was kind of odd what happened with 358 declining the request. It was quite funny, because one of our mentors who was a first year mentor was asking me if any team ever declined. Well, 10 seconds later he got that answer.

Red face Re: 2011 SPBLI Regional

My team found odd some of the teams that made it so far even all the way to finals but in the spirit of "gracious professionalism" congrats to you all...

&did anyone else notice the 1626 mentor that was going to jump onto the field when the 5th seed team asked 358 to join them hilarious he was a real go hard ...that was one determined guy!!

Re: 2011 SPBLI Regional

If ANYONE has video of the winning alliance's drive teams reactions to the winning of the final match in the Long Island SBPLI regional. I am on the drive team and it is my final year, and it was our teams first regional win and I will literally do ANYTHING I can to get my hands on the video.

If you have it, have seen it, or know someone who has EMAIL ME at murawskid1126@aol.com. I will be extremely extremely grateful.
