I think your original message was a little strange, considering 842 has an active pickup.

842 just keeps getting better this year... now for the 3 tube auto?

I believe Tom meant active pickup to mean something with rollers or conveyors.

I was being sarcastic - plenty of teams have pinchers. I was more or less implying that any team with the resources to do this probably had a roller claw this year, since they are quite popular and effective.

Re: Two Tube Autonomous Repeated 14 Times!

217 has a non-active pickup, and it works quite well. I haven't seen them with a two tube auto, but then again, I haven't seen them play since FLR.

842 had the resources to make an innovative arm that doesn't need an active pickup mechanism.

It's a neat robot, should be fun to watch it with pneumatics in StL

Both 217 ThunderChickens and 469 Las Guerrillas have a "grabbing" style (or non-active, as we're calling it here, I guess) pickup, and have a two-tube autonomous. 33 Killer Bees also have a two-tube autonomous, although their pickup uses rollers. All three used their two-tube autonomous programs at the Troy District Competition this past weekend; however, there was some measure of inconsistency for all three teams.

217 and 33 seemed to be having troubles with their programs during the semifinals, an issue that I credit partially with their elimination in the semis; however, 469's program worked flawlessly in the two finals matches that their alliance won. In fact, in Finals Matches 1 and 3, the Red Alliance was able to score all three ubertubes with only two robots capable of scoring in autonomous.

Great job! I like the concept of the double auto but i do not see it being used much in St. Louis. Most teams will probably have a well developed auto mode. Then again that is just me assuming since it is nationals haha.

During the finals it may be useless but in qualifying, many teams last year did not have an autonomous or are still working on it and we expect the same this year. Also who knows, the third robot maybe a super defensive box bot.

I will tell you: trying to pick anything up with the pincer we had, I was very surprised I even managed to put any tubes up during competition let alone score with them...
