actually i might be going!!! i had a scare last weekend. i lied to my parents about my english project and watching TV and they said i had to quit all afterschool activities (including ROBOTICS!!!). yesterday my stepdad said i could still do all my activities but he wont be active in them. so i might be there. look for a kid in an AEROPOSTLE buttondown shirt over my robotics shirt. thats me.
good luck to everyone if i cant make it but ill try my hardest!!!

Hey- I have a question for you guys who are running this event-

with 21 teams how are you going to coordinate the playoffs? Will you pick from a hat like the Duel on the Delaware?

un fortunatly we are down to 20 but we have worked out a stratagy for the finals and if i remember it right it is good

what to do with 20 teams-

the answer is- wildcard playoffs

7 alliances- top three guaranteed semis- bottom 4 play off for the 4th spot and a shot at #1.

Don't worry- you will have a lot to do. Don't forget ALL your batteries and a tether for use in the pits..

As for the three dropout teams- well you guys just tell them all about the great time they missed come Monday.

Tonight I am assembling the team literature packs. The field arrives tomorrow. Friday we put it up. Oy vay!!!

Remember- we will have 4 other events during the midday games period-

1. ladies only rounds

2. robot drag racing- elimination style- this will be bizarre with 4 machines on two separate tracks racing in opposite directions at the same time.

3. strength battle- 2 minutes of fury to see who has the muscle machine- elims again

4. the obstacle course- timed race to see who can navigate the cones course fastest

The audience will also be doing some voting on their favorite robots.

The trophies are hand made and the most bizarro things yet. Mr. Volcano is awarding them at the end of the day.

BTW- after 4 MAJOR revisions of the seeding round lists I think you will be seeing some killer matches. To the best of our abilities no team partners with the same team twice. There are not teams playing in consecutive rounds (although some are a round apart), Each team gets six seeding rounds and I've tried to get matches against a diversity of opponents. This entire thing was NOT EASY and had to be completely redone twice as teams dropped out. I'll admit it could use a few improvements but the time is running out and we have lots more to do.

Don't forget your canned goods for our SGO food drive if you have them. Our school's kids have one canned item as their admission fee.

The event has been advertised on the local radio for 2 weeks now. You WILL be seeing the press at this one : )

I need some sleep now. BE is just hours away....

We have several dozen for sale. Sorry no event shirts this time though. We just ran out of steam there and I didn't want to get caught with inventory.

Just out of curiousity, how many teams out there know what they are going to do for the ladies only rounds? Does your team normally have a girl driver, or are you just going to let someone take a crack at the controls?

no way are we gonna let any of our girls drive(they have no experience) *lightbulb* I know... guy driver dressing drag to compete in the womens event... hehehehe...

i have faith (no not the song) in the girls it is just that i dont think they could or want to drive the robot.

Actually we might have one freshman girl going also. hehe THey could do it haha.

Actually 2 girls that aren't on the team asked me about it, and I told them to join, and they were like 'But it's all guys" and actually last year we had 6 girls I believe! So I was like, "there are girls, if you join, there will be MORE girls!"
