The best place IMHO to get team data from FIRST in a nice tab delimited form (suitable for computers) is where FMS (a computer) gets its data. Here are all the teams (numbers, nicknames, hometowns, etc...) and there are pages for specific events.

How would you know about that site?
FIRST doesn't link to it, they link you to the page intended for humans to read. At a meeting, right after divisions were released, people were asking me to show them the division. I had the FMS page loaded but no Internet, so I showed them that and all I got was I told them that is just how I look at divisions. Both "pages" are really just differently formatted queries to the same TIMS database.

I see from your signature, you volunteer as an inspector (as do I). This is really knowledge that FTAs and scorekeepers acquire. If you know some, you can learn a lot from them about the FMS. If you don't know any, just listen to the ones on CD when they speak.

fair enough. However, I have been working on team/event/match data retrieval projects from official sources for a few years now, so I'm surprised that site hasn't come up in my research. I know a few of the FTA's and Scorekeepers, and I know quite a bit about the system just from being around so long.

Re: Converting team number to team nickname

That is the site I got my data from. I learned it from Pat Fairbank. If you search it hard enough on CD, you would have found that post from last year.

You can't actually use Pat's links from last years division thread anymore. They were temporary frclinks.com using z and he deleted them.

I actually wish Pat would keep them around and expand them to all regionals. It is really useful for advance scouting regionals (I lookup who in webcast regionals is coming to my regional using simple unix commands on text files) and it is annoying looking up event IDs.
