2 camera's?

After competing in regionals we saw a team with 2 cameras and so now are team has embarked on this journey except only one problem we can figure out how to get the 5v needed the power the second camera without frying it. Also if i could suggestions on code for Labview right now were going to try copying the original Visual Process .vi and see if that'll work after a few tweaks

Re: 2 camera's?

You might be able to wire both on the same 5v supply, but I'm not sure whether that would be legal. You could also purchase another 12v to 5v converter like that used for the robot radio and use it with one of the 12v supplies on the sides of the power distribution board. Since the camera could be considered a custom (COTS) circuit I'm fairly sure this would be legal.

Regulators are legal:

Make sure you have a plan on how to attach the camera. If you want to just send it back to the dashboard, you can get an ethernet camera and wire it up to the radio. However, if you want to process it, you may want to get some sort of analog camera, since the C RIO only has two ethernet ports. I'm not sure if some sort of ethernet splitter would work, though.

Also whenever I see an apostrophe misused, I die a little. Actually, I just kind of cringe, which could be considered dieing.

Re: 2 camera's?

Since the DLink is a four port switch, you can plug four devices into it. If you want to be able to use it, especially on the field, you'll need to change the camera IP to 10.te.am.11, or something larger than 10.

If code running on the cRIO needs to get an image, Open the connection using the new IP. I'm not certain if this was exposed for all WPILib languages, but it is there for LV and should be easy to add for the others.

If the code running on the dashboard needs to get an image, or better yet, an image stream, it requests it from the camera directly. It doesn't need to bother the cRIO. There is an article with attached VI on the NI site that covers some of this.

Re: 2 camera's?

this would require a second pd board. the network connections though, as was previously stated would need to go through the bridge.

Re: 2 camera's?

It IS legal to wire them both to the regulated 5v on the PDB. That port can source 3A, and the regular camera only draws 2is (usually around 1.3). Find a camera that is suitable and you're good. We did this set-up and the inspectors were okay with it.

This is not true. Please do not post things as fact if you are unsure.
