Womens' Tournament Rules Changes

There are only a few rules changes for the Womens' Tournament on December 7th. Remember: the redesign and all of the modifications made to your current OCCRA robot must be done by the female members of your team. Keep in mind also that the balls will be 6 to 6.5" in diameter. The lowest 24" of the goal towers will each have holes drilled into the vertical PVC pipes every 6". Clear plastic tubing (.25" diameter, available in 10' rolls at Home Depot) will be threaded horizontally through the holes to form a sort of basket. This will keep the balls from falling out too easily but will still allow them to be scored from the sides (and removed by opponents!) There will 10 additional balls in play: an extra one in each human player station and 6 more on the field.

Picture of the Goal

Here's a picture of the new goal. If you are going to modify your own, use 1/4" clear vinyl tubing (from Home Depot for $.99 per 10' roll) We removed the outer PVC bottom segments since they served no function with the new design but made drilling too difficult) Also note: we haven't threaded the top layer of tubing yet- it will be 24" high for the tournament. The balls do not come out on their own but (as in the regular season) can be easily pushed through or pulled out. The loose ends are being held together with tie wraps.

i would assume 3. I think the short tower is 20" from base to ring, then 6 + 6 + 6 = 18 and 6.5 + 6.5 + 6.5 = 19.5 Anything else would be more than 1/2 out and thus not a point

But the picture shows that they can be packed, and from the looks of it you can get around 7 (maybe 8) in the short tower.

A Guess

I think that Rabid Robots made a pretty good guess; although I have not tried it, I'm sure it holds at least 6 and possibly several more. No modifications have been made to the cart since the balls do not fit under the bar as it is. Obviously, you can fit a lot of these little balls in the cart without them becoming unstable.
