Training Coordination Tool - Alpha Test - Please help!

Hey All,

The Robobees are in the process of creating some software applications for teams. This summer we are working on two initiatives:
1. A tool to connect teams or team members who need to learn a skill (i.e., LabView, wiring, How to create a Chairman's presentation, etc...) with teams or members who can teach that skill.
The tool to assist with this first task has been prototyped and is available for testing. The alpha test site is available at www.knackeo.com. There is a group called "FIRST Robotics" Please sign up and indicate what you need to learn or what you can teach. Note - this is a rough prototype, and we really want your feedback. What works and what doesn't work. We hope to have a much more developed tool by September, when teams start back up. You will see that this is currently be developed as a generic learning/training matching tool, since we believe that there is a need beyond robotics! The final product will have multiple interfaces, and will have one that is "branded" as a robotics tool.

2. The second initiative is still a work in progress and will be available in the next month or so. It will essentially be a skill tracking tool, where basic skill sets can be listed and as students complete mastery of a skill they will earn foursquare style "badges". Please watch this space for additional info as we develop it. While it was initially modeled based on an FRC team's training needs, it hopefully can be used beyond that. We are also looking at being able to use it for things like Boy Scouts, etc...

Hopefully we will be able to port these as Android and iOS apps once we have worked out the major issues.

The development team has created a facebook and twitter account if you would like to follow them and to provide feedback through those tools. It is being headed up by my oldest son, Danny Page, so feel free to rough him up as necessary. Humility is good for the soul!

Thanks!

Steve

Steve,

What are the Facebook and Twiter IDs? And how do you want feedback?

Richard (and all),

Facebook is http://www.facebook.com/Knackeo
Twitter is Http://www.twitter.com/knackeo

As of right now, after some initial feedback, he has taken the application down and is the process of reworking parts, so hang tight, it will be back shortly. Also, the initial (non-functional) prototype was based off wordpress, but is now being built on its own platform.

One area of feedback that would be appreciated is the name and the logo. Does it make sense? The idea is that we all have a "knack" on how to do certain things, the challenge is to share that with others. (knack.com was taken)

Now if I could just get him to be so diligent about cleaning his room.

Steve
