Re: IRI 2011 Final Results and Awards

The results I am posting are not official. I got the match schedule and results from Twitter. I did a lot of data massaging to get it into the format that I need.

The OPR data is attached. Ranking does not take into account disqualifications so it is not accurate.

Prediction of qualifying match results using highest OPR is 68% correct. Not too bad considering rule change, new drivers, robot upgrade etc. after regular season.

Re: IRI 2011 Final Results and Awards

Thanks for posting this Ed. This kinda confirms that in a closed system and digressive scoring nature of this game, when the field of competition rises, the OPRs will actually go down. At MSC there seemed to be a normalizing effect that pushed teams down towards 45-50 pts. for their OPR.
This was the opposite of last years game where 3 good machines working together could outscore the sum of the seperate OPRs. Pretty neat stuff.

Re: IRI 2011 Final Results and Awards

Actual performance at this event matched fairly well to the projections prior to the event (see attached chart). This chart shows the cumulative density graphs from some of the worst performing events of the year (Dallas) as well as the very best. IRI was the most competitive event of the year by far.

IKE, you are correct that in a game like LogoMotion, where the scoring has a fixed upper limit, individual team OPRs at a strong event will have a lower peak than at a weaker event. The rules we were playing at IRI capped the scoring upper limit at 160. 160/3 = 53. Not surprising most of the top OPR values at this event fall just below this value.
