How to Lighten a gearbox plate in SW

How does one go about taking gearbox plates and lightening/cheesing them ?

Do you know how to extrude cut in Solidworks?

Make the sketch you want in the plate, and extrude cut.

oh, okay, I thought there was some fancy method to cut but retain the essentials or something like that, nvm then. Thanks for your help!

And just to make your life easier, make sure you check the box to attach to thickness.
