Changing OS (Mac)

So last May or so I bought Lion from the Mac App store, and while nice and convenient, I've started to notice many apps either don't work or have major problems running on Lion. I want to download AutoCAD for Mac, but it has problems on Lion. In an honest, somewhat advanced mac-user opinion, should I go back to Leopard, or should I stick with Lion and wait until more Lion-friendly apps come out? Please give reasons why!

Thanks!

Re: Changing OS (Mac)

Depends. Most of the problems with apps under Lion is that they were compiled for PowerPC and haven't been updated to run on Intel--Lion completely removes Rosetta emulation that enabled this before on Intel-based Macs.

Are the apps simply out of date with newer versions available, are they out of development, or has the developer just had their head in the sand for the past several years? This should guide your decision.

Re: Changing OS (Mac)

I mainly want to get AutoCAD for Mac, and there are some major problems with that. There is a way to fix it, but it's in beta.

Ok, new question: Anyone have any experience with the Best Test that's supposed to fix the problems?

Re: Changing OS (Mac)

Stick with Lion because developers will soon stop creating new programs designed for Snow Leopard. If you really upgraded from Leopard, definitely stay on Lion for the same reasons plus Leopard is somewhat antiquated. As far as AutoCAD for Mac OS, if there are major issues, Autodesk will likely fix those soon.

A side note, you couldn't have bought Lion in May, it came out at the end of June.
