NHTechfest 2011
Hello everyone!
I am here to announce New Hampshire TechFest is back for our third year and will be bigger and better than ever! For those of you that don't know about NHTechFest, feel free to check out last year's promotional video, produced by yours truly, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWkm0...layer_embedded Or just check out our website: http://www.nhtechfest.org/default.htm We had a fantastic turnout at last year's event, with over 800 spectators in our second year, which is an increase of 200 people from our inaugural event. We will once again be free and open to the public on October 15th at Windham High School in Windham, NH, and I believe (and could be wrong) that we will once again be the official satellite event for the USA Science and Engineering Festival for all of New England. We are currently looking for several things: Exhibits, FRC robots, and Trebuchet competitors! Exhibitors: We are looking for companies and organizations who would be willing to either conduct hands-on activities, or provide a presentation, demonstration, or lecture. In addition to booths and demonstration areas in the gymnasium and lobby areas, we will also have use of at least one outdoor athletic field, as well as a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art 500+ seat auditorium. FRC Robots: In the past we have set up a reduced field for teams to do demonstrations on, we also encourage that teams let general members of the public drive their robot, but it is not required. We also ask that your team help promote FIRST by talking to the spectators about FIRST as a whole. Trebuchet competitors: Our main event for the afternoon! This is a great, beginning of the school year engineering project to teach principle of engineering. The contest is designed to encourage teams to build consistent, accurate apple tossing gravity powered catapults primarily made of wood. The rules will be modified ever so slightly so that a team cannot bring their entry from last year. This event is not just limited to New Hampshire, as we would like to invite people from all over New England(heck, lets make open the invite to people all over the world) to attend! If you, or anyone you know, is interested in any of these, OR just volunteering for the day, please contact us at contact-us@nhtechfest.org Questions can be emailed to me at dantvman27@yahoo.com or can be fielded here. Thank You! Dan Pelletier NHTechFest Master of Ceremonies and VP in charge of on-line advertising PS I will most likely be bumping this thread over the next few months to keep it fresh in peoples minds and also so I do not have to create new threads |

Re: NHTechfest 2011
This was a great event last year. Oz-Ram was one of 3 teams that demoed and we had people of all ages driving our robot, even one boy with Down's Syndrom who left with a huge smile. I hope we can do it again this year.
FRC was not the only attraction as there were many hands on exibits. I would encourage all to go and spread the word to non-CD readers. |

Thank you for the great review! We are doing a large amount of revamping to various parts of the event, and would love any feed back we can get, positive and negative.

We have a new facebook page for everyone to like:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/NH-Te...56547644379853 And as always follow us on twitter at twitter.com/nhtechfest lots of news will be coming soon about the event. We are still looking for FRC teams and trebuchet competitors. The new trebuchet rules will be posted very shortly. Big change this year: We are no longer using apples! What will be using? Top secret until further notice, but speculations are welcome! |

Re: NHTechfest 2011
NEW Trebuchet rules posted! This year's theme: Angry Balloons! We will be using water balloons to take out our targets this year! Check it out here!
http://nhtechfest.org/activities/act...trebuchet.html From e-mail sent to previous competitors from our director: "Hello Everyone! Are you ready for “Angry Balloons”? As someone who has either participated or shown interest in our past contests, I wanted to let you know that the rules for the 2011 NH TechFest Trebuchet Contest have been released! You can access and download them from the following page: http://nhtechfest.org/activities/act...trebuchet.html The contest will take place a little over a month from now, on Saturday, October 15th, 2011. The venue will be the same as last year – Windham High School , in Windham , NH . This year’s Head Judge will again be Pat Kaplo, our Honors and AP Physics teacher at Windham High School . This year, we decided to again mix it up a bit and switch our ammo from apples to water balloons. And in honor of everyone’s favorite mobile downtime activity, we are going with a theme of “Angry Balloons”! Remember – team costumes are encouraged! So bring your machine: new, old, modified or not, and may the best team win! Let us know if you have any questions or if any rules are unclear. Please note that teams are responsible for providing their own water balloons and that there is no limit to the size or weight of the balloons that may be used – you should plan to optimize your ammo to the capabilities of your own machine. If you are planning to compete, please register on the same page linked above, and we will be sure to update you if there are any rule changes or clarifications between now and 10/15. And please feel free to pass this message along to anyone else you know! Happy Chunkin’ ! - Scott Kukshtel scott@nhtechfest.org " |

Re: NHTechfest 2011
With just over 3 weeks left till NHTechfest 2011, we are still welcoming FRC teams to sign up to bring their robots, as well as ANY type of student organization to sign up to enter our trebuchet contest. The new ad poster has been released and can be seen here:
![]() We would love it if all of you could come to the event, either demonstrating your robot, competing with a trebuchet, or as a specator. If you could also hang this flyer around your school, that would be awesome. And as always, follow us on twitter and facebook http://twitter.com/#!/nhtechfest https://www.facebook.com/pages/NH-Te...56547644379853 |

Re: NHTechfest 2011
I might just have some simple Kinect software samples that people might be able to get copies of if they bring a USB stick to NH Techfest. :-)

Re: NHTechfest 2011
Glad to see some other people that are excited about NH Techfest. I hope some of you are following us on twitter. We have some exciting announcements to make over the next week (and a few secrets we can't reveal until the morning of the event).
I think this will be our best year ever, with our best/most popular exhibitors returning and some new revamps to old ideas. I highly suggest getting there at 10 and staying all day. Even with six hours, you might not get to do all of the awesome things we have plan (which is a perfect reason why you should return year after you ) |
