Amazing story. Moments like these are why I'm still in FIRST.

Re: pic: 1985's Cow Town Throwdown Battle Scars
I think one of our mentors snapped a picture of the pit crew in action. I'll have to see if I can get a hold of it for an upload. Regardless it was awesome for our rookie members to see how your team persevered through multiple failures. They had ringside seats from their corner of the stands and walked away from the experience excited for the upcoming season. We've got no regrets about the day's events.

Amazing story to hear. We had problems at River Rage in Eliminations but nowhere near the problems that you guys went through.

It was a rush helping to try and get your arm back on. A flurry of drills, zip-ties, duct tape, and c-clamps (were we over weight?) Somehow its more fun working on someone else's robot than your own. Sorry about the extra holes.

I've read a lot of books in my time, but this short story was one of the most interesting ones yet. Stories like this are the ones that get people hooked on robotics. Thanks for sharing with us!

Funny thing is, Team 1777 wasn't Titaniums 3rd pick, we were their second, it's just that Titanium was better at putting up top tubes (what 1777 was best at) so 1777's lack of a minibot made them less useful.
Anyways it was amazingly fun |

You guys were an amazing team. We would've had that last match if our minibots wouldn't have malfunctioned thanks to you guys. Sorry for my mistake, I'd edit my original post but I can't since I posted it as a picture. Last edited by Tommy F. : 06-11-2011 at 17:18. |

I was wondering where those went when I seen them fall. They didn't cause any damage did they?

Re: pic: 1985's Cow Town Throwdown Battle Scars
Congratulations from Team 3481! We were the 8th seed alliance captain at the Cow Town Throwdown, and your alliance VS the Bomb Squad alliance was an awesome set of finals matches!
I was wondering why your arm was dangling so precariously during the last set of matches, so thanks for posting this info. Congratulations on your Finalists Award! |

Cool story. You and your team seem to have really good attitude regarding the entire ordeal, and that's something to be proud of. Learning to win and lose graciously is a skill not many people have.

Re: pic: 1985's Cow Town Throwdown Battle Scars
Our team was there and I know that we had, at best, a mediocre bot, but we had great kids. We went as far as we could go, and set down to watch. I was very supprised at your bot when it came out looking like that, but was very dissapointed when it didn't work. I thought, for sure, that it would be back in the race. It just goes to show that luck does play an important part of the competition. I salute you and your team for not giving up and the Bomb Squad for keeping you in the competition.

That's the good ole Hawks that I knew. Never give up, keep on fighting until there's no one left to fight!
