Kit of Parts

Did anyone notice that the KOP this year is quite heavy?

Bill's Blog:

Plan ahead. Veteran kits will be about 100lbs. Rookie kits will weigh approx. 147lbs. Also, remember that only an adult team mentor may sign for the kit of parts. Your team will be asked to sign in at the kickoff when you arrive, you will be handed your team’s kit of parts receipt and someone trustworthy needs to hold onto it all the way through the broadcast. The broadcast, by the way, is scheduled to begin at 10:30AM ET. During kit distribution you will be asked to open a sealed tote and confirm that you have received your Kinect.

Re: Kit of Parts

100 B.C. - The temple of Fortuna Primagenia was built. Fortuna Primagenia's worship was originally centered in a grotto, a small cave (it is related to the word crypt) of a type celebrated in Italy for being a cool and refreshing place out of the sun; often water is found in grottoes. Fortuna's Praenestine grotto likely did have a spring or other form of water in it, and it had been decorated with a great mosaic in its floor that depicted the Greek Sea-God Poseidon, who was equated with the Roman Neptune, originally a God of fresh waters.

147 B.C. - Scipio Aemilianus takes command in the Battle of Carthage. He built a mole across the gulf into the harbour, the Carthaginians dug a canal from their inner harbour basin to the coast and put to sea with a full fleet, but they are defeated in a naval engagement.

1030 B.C. - Death of King Olaf II of Norway, king of a nation of seafaring peoples.

------

A water game.

As much as I respect your research, I'm not sure how your post relates to this thread, unless the KOP is heavier because it contains some type of fluid.

Re: Kit of Parts

Last year it weighed 95 pounds (veteran), so there's not really enough difference to tell anything.

The Kinect accounts for about 3 lbs, and whatever game pieces we get are almost certainly heavier than last year. Two pounds really isn't much of a difference.

Sorry. I guess I just misremembered the weight from last year.

100 = veteran kit weight, 147 = rookie kit weight, 1030 = time to pick up.

That took me a little while to realize.

To clarify, I was poking fun at the people who come out with ridiculous game predictions.
