The official documentation for the Kinect and FRC may be found at http://firstforge.wpi.edu/sf/docman/..._documentation were you will find three documents:

•Getting Started with Microsoft Kinect for FRC document (PDF)
•Kinect Server Code Walkthough (PDF)
•Using the Kinect Kiosk (PDF)

You'll probably want to start there. I have posted those and other Kinect links on my blog at Kinect for FRC 2012
