Of course, FIRST could just use diamagnetic levitation to nullify the gravity caused by Earth (see Floating Frogs). Oh great, now my brain hurts .
Is it too late to sign up for those rookie workshops?

I heard from a good source who heard from a minor functionary of FIRST that there will be goals and drivetrains will be required. Imagine that, they want our robots to move this time around.

Heh. If we just used hyper-space (wormholes) right now to look ahead, and find out what the object will be this year, it would be so much easier!

Place your attention entirely on my voice and try to ignore all the others. It is important to be able to focus on a single source of information while blocking out all the other things competing for your attention.

I actually heard we would be playing on Pergo synthetic flooring this year. The non-glue kind that just snaps together.

This was done to eliminate the "file card" problem where now everyone will need to use friction to propel their robot (as opposed to carpet fiber engagement).

Except for the fact that the Pergo floor would get devastaded by the robots. I have one, and my mother knows how easy they dent due to repeated demonstrations.

Well I heard from a source who heard from his source deep within FIRST that instead of Pergo flooring (their first choice) they are going to use prego spaghetti sauce as a flooring material. A fairly frictionless substance... at least to my intestines.

Heard that there won't be a Human player and No coaches - (guess that will stop the complaining about cutting it down to 1 coach from 2 - last year)

Oh, I forgot to add that 16 of the 130lbs. limit is dedicated to a 16 lb Bowling Bowl that each robot must carryover to a ramp and roll down the ramp to determine the scoring multiplier (bowling for mulipliers!) Each team provides there own ball and it starts somewhere inside your bot!

I think it would be really funny if FIRST took these jokes seriously and used them for the 2004 game

the information for shipping & drayage just came out &

its says
Team Operator Badges: These are for the 2 operators, 1 human player, and 1 mentor.
The mentor can be a student or adult, but he/she cannot score
points or operate the robot.

So it looks like things have not changed.
