At the same time.. That can be the only source of electrical energy. The rest is just done by the v8.

Re: v8 engine allowed?

Our team began prototyping last year with a matter-antimatter engine until we realized we had gone way over the $3500 allowed on a robot. I'm sure it would have won us the Engineering Inspiration award if we'd been allowed to use it though.

EDIT: ^^ quote fail.

The V8 produces electricity to fire the spark plugs(alternator).

However, you could a V8 diesel (no spark, no alternator necessary).

problem solved

(now for weight... freshmen with holesaw)

I guess at the same time, you would have to switch the starter motor out with something from the Kit of Parts. Either that or stand on the field before the match starts with a hand crank

Depending on the gear ratio, you could probably get away with a CIM. Or you could rest one of the wheels on the ground, drive forward, and pop the clutch.

Inspector: *with puzzled/ frightened face "sooo, you are telling me that you removed the muffler, and drilled holes in the block... for lightness? And you expect the audience to push start it every time that it's on the field?"
Me: "Yes"

Re: v8 engine allowed?

So we were able to find one of these V8 pitching machines at the local junk yard. We did make use of the seat motor voucher. We removed the old V8 500hp high output engine and figured with a couple of modifications we are able to run this unit with the new BBgear box. The BBv8-6-550 1:4000 ratio takes (6) 550BB motors to one 2" shaft output. We ordered one right away, it should be here in two days. They still have a few instock but they are likely to be out of stock quickly when this secret hits the streets. Just wondering if anyone else was able to get another one at their local junk yard?

Our total weight is still 40lbs under the allowable 1200lbs. so we should be great!

Lonnie

Wow.. That's the fastest turnaround time i have seen from BaneBots in years

And maybe.. Just maybe we can somehow add that extra 0 to R03 to make it official…

Been there... done that. Broke the backboard.

We are now redeeming the BaneBot coupon for a 12v motor.
