Travel Stories

We went to florida last year in vans. Eight of us in each. Our van was the coolest because we had all the gizzmos. Like a tv and a full n64 set-up. Any ways we were playing mario cart at about 2 in the morning and one of my friends little viewing area showed him just bouncing off the side of the track over and over again. Just so happens he had fallen asleep at the wheel! There he was, in the middle of a heated race, drooling and snoring against the window of the van.
oh... and then there was daytona but thats a "different" story.

Talking White Boxes

When we flew to nationals, we were in Port Columbus at the food court, I had my carry on and a white box full of buttons and things of that sort. (THis was before all of the terriorist stuff so we could still take them on to the plane.) SO when it was time to start to board I couldnt find the box. SO then i remembered it was in the food court...so i ran through the airport and me and my friend TJ see the white unmarked box on a table with no one around it. There was a 50 ft radius around the box... It was sooo funny. I couldnt believe the airport security didnt freak out or something.. it had to of been there a good 30 mins.

I am not forunate enough to be able to fly, so I have to drive to all of the competitions. Anyways, my freshman year, my team flew to Orlando. On the way back, due to a large amount of flights going out, the plane was delayed. They were supposed to have a lay-over in Charlotte, however, due to the plane delay in Orlando, they missed the connection in Charlotte. The whole way back I kept thinking that the team was already home. Well actually I returned to school that Tuesday, and the team was nowhere to be found. They couldn't get another flight out for over 24 hours, so the airline company had to put 40-50 people in a fancy suite hotel with only 2 people per room!

Talking Hahaha, great stuff

those are pretty funny. well, on our way to orlando last year (post sept 11, keep in mind), we were going through security, and all of us made it out ok, and we were waiting for the advisors and gm executives to get through. well, one of our advisors, Mrs. Garver, got taken aside for a random baggage check. Well, the guy was like, "is there anything in here that i should know about?" and she got all offended, and was like, this is a huge waste of people's time. well, he then pulls out a (im not kidding) 15 inch pair of scissors, holds them like a dagger, and asks, "do these belong to you ma'am?" hahaha, its was the funniest look on her face. shes lucky that she got to come with us!

Nationals 2002 - while we were sitting in the airport, a bird was flying inside the terminal, and it flew up on the border of the wall and dome window ceiling where the heater/AC was. The only thing we saw of the bird after it flew there was a few feathers falling to the ground.

Nationals 2001- Our bus never showed to take us to the Indianapolis Airport. So parents, teachers and engineers all took their cars and we drove down seperately.

On the way back our bus was late picking us up from the all star. We arrived at the airport 30 minutes before our flight was scheduled to take off. Luckily the airport was pretty empty, and security was still light so we made it to the terminal just as first call for boarding came.

Nationals 2000- the Final 4 of college basketball was in Indianapolis that year so we left the day after the championship game. For some reason I was 15 rows up from the next nearest person on our team, but I sat next to the referee of the championship game. He sat next to a member of the press. Well, the whole way down to Orlando they argued and argued about calls he made, didnt make, or should have made. It was quite hard to sleep, but very entertaining

In Canada, we took some screwdrivers and a needlenose pliers and worked our way around that metal plate that blocks the back of hotel TVs. We then commenced to hook up an N64 along with our laptop with tons of music and games.

I went back to that hotel a month later for a music department trip. I attempted the same thing with the screwdriver and ended up pulling out the cable connection and breaking the thing that connected it to it. I ended up taping it to the TV badly with some bandages and we had static most of the time. That and the fact the bathroom flooded.

Toronto 2002

I don't think that anyone can top my hotel experience at the Holiday Inn Express in Canada. I was awakened at around 6 somethingish in the morning to a not so nice fire alarm. The other two girls in my room were still sleeping as was I after I picked the phone up and said we were all up and rolled back over. This fire alarm goes off and we're still in bed asking eachother whether or not we should go down stairs. I go there are doors slamming maybe we should go. I jumped outta bed not thinking anything of it and grabbed my yellow monkey robe and ran downstairs. There is lil short white girl in the middle of the lobby with a robe and a pair of Nike's on. I seriously felt stupid when everyone was already dressed and almost ready to leave. I felt like everyone was staring at my legs and then a guy asked me if I had any clothing on under my robe. To this day I still haven't answered that question when asked that!!

Ohhh man your not going to believe this. Right now Im listening to ESPN Radio and they are talking to a member of the press who is talking about college basketball referees. He said "I had a fine conversation with the referee of the 2000 National Championship game on an airplane back to Orlando the night after the championships..." Heh I sat next to that guy and listened to quite a bit of that convo

On the way back from Florida this past year, one of our brattier students (you know who you are!) overheard two college students talking about the beer they had in their carry on and trying to decide what to do with it. Well, said bratty student just said "You can give it to me." So they did. And there was our way underage bratty student with a soda box of beer, which he brought over to show me.

We just quietly disposed of the beer, but if we had more time before our flight, it would have been interesting to have made the brat turn in the beer to the officials at the airport. I'm sure he wouldn't have gotten in trouble other than a long lecture, which in the long run would have probably just gone in one bratty ear and out the other. Brat, brat brat!!! (it's a good thing I adore brats).

Unhappy

Team 334' story is a sad on, so its the day of our flight for 2002 nats, sme of the team came to school and left after the first 4 classes the flight was 2:15 P.M. well a bunch of the guys got together and where planning to go to the airport together. I live near the airport so I went home took a quick shower, grabbed my things about to head out the door and the phone rings. So i decide to get it, and its our mentor and he was like ohh the trip has been cancelled. Now he likes to joke around so this was funny for about 3 mintues or until i realized he wasn't playing around. So what he later found out was that a few members made it to the airport a few others were on the road and some like me ready to leave, we weren't allowed to go because one freakin piece of paper wasn't signed b the super inted. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. OK i'm ok now, we considered going away since we had our tickets but then we realized the amount of #%#%#%#% we'd be in, when we got back. So for all of those people who went to 2002 NAt. that was our robot there without a team, just sitting there in itz crate sniff sniff.

Well.......

Actually I'm alittle embarrassed by the whole situation. My whole team still laughs about it and makes fun of me. It's rather embarrassing sitting in the middle of a hotel lobby in a yellow monkey robe in front of bunches of guys, who you think are starring at your legs?!? Anyone that was there...... were you?? I surly hope not!! I just thought that other people would look at their silly stories and notice that there always could be wrose!! All and how would you like it if people asked you if you were wearing clothing under your robe. I turned all red and ran up stairs as soon as they said we could, after we got our key because we locked ourseleves outta our room!!
