Question Netbeans stops working on inspiron 1100 after installing wpilibj
I installed netbeans on my windows seven running dell inspiron 1100 laptop. then i installed the wpilibj modules. after that, netbeans no longer works. any ideas?

My team uses netbeans i am fimilliar with netbeans. i dont want to learn something new right now. can i get help getting netbeans working.

What version of Netbeans? During beta testing the manual said that any version later than 6.7 would work, and 6.9.1 was recommended (IIRC). But the first one I tried did not install the plugins properly and 6.9.1 worked fine. You might consider trying 6.9.1 if you are not currently. I have not had any problems with it so far.

Netbeans opens, goes through the whole startup process, and then when it should be opening the ide window to code in, it just dies, no error message nothing, it is as if it was never started. it functioned fully before i installed the library then afterwords, it just loads the window where it initalizes, runs through that, then there is nothing at all, no ide no trace of it in task manager, no log file, nothing at all.

For clarity is this what you did:
un-install of the previous version of netbeans, rebooted
installed 6.9.1
added plug-in info, downloaded & installed all FRC plugins
restarted the IDE

(because you are going backwards it is important to completely remove the previous version)

And you still see the same symptoms as the 7.1 install?
I have working versions (dev environment only) on XP, Vista, 7, and Ubuntu 10.04. So I am mystified.

When you say "no log file" did you also check the windows system logs?

Not quite, i first tried it with with 7.1 twice, once on a unclean installation of seven, once on a brand new installation of seven, and then with 6.9.1 on an clean new installation of seven, each time with the same results, and the same procedure.

I am also having difficulties with Netbeans and this years plugins.
Tried both 6.7.1 and 7.1 on Dell D600 XP with 512M
At first I thought this was a memory issues so I added more memory (1 Gb).
No luck. We are using a desktop which loaded NB and this years plugins. This will not work at the competition.

I have tried so many combinations and wasting a great deal of time.

I am very frustrated with this software this year and do not know where to go for assistance.

Looks like Netbeans 6.9.1 works.
It installed on one laptop with 1Gb memory with the FRC modules.
