24 volt solenoid
how would you open and set a 24, as opposed to a 12 volt solenoid

Re: 24 volt solenoid
Exactly the same way; the only different part is the voltage wired to the solenoid module. All else is the same.

Re: 24 volt solenoid
As Phil said, in programming, there is no difference between a 12 volt solenoid and a 24 volt solenoid.

Re: 24 volt solenoid
a regular open goes to the sidecar, how do you make the solenoid open in the output from the 24 volt module. Sorry, i dont know how to say what i need.

Re: 24 volt solenoid
Again there's no difference, but I'll try and be a little more thorough in my answer.
Both 12V and 24V solenoids will run off on an NI-9472 module (or more commonly known as a solenoid module). You will plug your solenoid (regardless of its voltage) into the module with the breakout installed. You will code both types of solenoids the exact same way - open them, and control weather or not each port on the breakout is an open or closed circuit. Now, here's the only difference: the solenoid breakout requires a power input (it's on the top left of the picture on the linked page). It can handle both 12V and 24V (but not at the same time). You will either wire 12V or 24V from your PDB to that breakout. Note that you can not use both 12V and 24V solenoids simultaneously on the same cRIO module. So, really, there is not any difference between the two voltages of solenoids, except the power your wire to them. |

Re: 24 volt solenoid
Using the cRIO solenoid modules there typically won't be a difference in code.
There are some slight code differences in setting up a double solenoid vs. a single solenoid (the voltage still doesn't matter though). I don't want to confuse the issue too much, but I wanted to mention that there is a variation for 12v solenoids (not possible with 24v versions) that allows you to power them through Spike relays. That would be coded differently, since it doesn't use the cRIO solenoid module at all. |

Re: 24 volt solenoid
thank you so much. I got the impression that 12 volt went to the sidecar.
