Can the Kinect be used as camera on robot?
Is there any way to use the kinect sensor on the robot as the camera? and is there a convertor?

Re: Can the Kinect be used as camera on robot?
There are no rules that prohibit Kinect on the robot; however, the interface is tricky. See this thread:

Re: Can the Kinect be used as camera on robot?
You can put the kinect on your robot. You will need some sort of computer in addition to the cRIO, like a laptop or nettop (asus eee box). The kinect has a visible light camera and a depth sensor. Using the kinect will require a decent amount of programming. The on-board laptop or small computer for the kinect will need to communicate back to the cRIO in order to comply with the rules about the cRIO being the direct control device for motors and such.
Our team is going to try setting it up, but we're not betting the farm on that solution working. |
