Connectors for Jaguar encoders
Good afternoon everyone.
I am looking for a connector/how to connect the US Digital E4P quadrature encoders to the jaguars encoder port. I tried using the black connectors with metal crimps that go in them that we received one year in the KOP, but to no avail, they are too fat. I haven't tried a PWM connector, but I think they are the same size, but I may be mistaken. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Re: Connectors for Jaguar encoders
These connectors should be compatible.

Re: Connectors for Jaguar encoders
Those appear to be the ones that connect to the encoder itself, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm looking for a connector that will work on the physical jaguar, as the pins on it are not in the same order as the encoder.

Re: Connectors for Jaguar encoders
There are a lot of different five-pin box headers, and some fit and some don't. As you have seen the opening has very little clearance.
This year I purchased a wide selection of box headers and pre-crimped wires from pololu, and their 5-pin box headers fit into the slot on the Jaguar just fine. The crimped pins slide in nicely (once you learn how to orient them) and appear robust. Pololu Website Link to the 5-pin headers Pololu shipped next day even though i ordered at midnight, and stuff arrived as promised. |

Re: Connectors for Jaguar encoders
Try Hansen Hobbies, we use them for all our PWM and other .1" connector needs and I haven't found a better price. I highly recommend this, from the same site, for crimping the connectors. It's almost impossible to get a good crimp without the right tool. The wire there is a great price too, but they only have 3-conductor wire.
