Sounds like a story out of Boston some years ago ...

The New Boston Garden (which replaced the old Boston Garden), home of the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins, had a charity auction where the high bidder could name the Garden for a week. (There were the usual rules regarding profanity and copyrighted names and all.) The winner was a guy in New York, who requested the "Derek Jeter Garden". (For those not in the area, or familiar with baseball, Derek is a shortstop for the New York Yankees, the eternal rivals of the Boston Red Sox.)

After howls of protests were raised from all over Boston, another higher bidder "mysteriously" surfaced, and the controversey went away.
