Team 3647.

Hello all,
Week 5 update from Team 3647.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yyw_UW0f-Mc

We have 3 main systems left that are being worked on.
The turret/shooter, competition drive train [teaser in the vid] and the bridge lowering mechanism. As well as bits and pieces.

Our goal this year was to produce a very simple but highly functioning robot. Everything expect the welding [Thanks Team 2102!] was done by our students in our shop/garages.

Our build blog and info is in my sig.
I will be posting more here in the near future.

Thanks. And good luck everyone!

Re: Team 3647.

Just wanted to take a quick mention and really focus in on you guys. After seeing your post build bot and off-season modifications, I saw that the 3647 had some potential. After watching and following your team this season, I am very impressed with the amount of detail and effort that you guys have been putting into your robot. Even though your final bot isn't close to being complete, I am very excited to see what you guys have in store. If any other teams that are struggling competitively, take note on 3647; they have their stuff on lock.

Re: Team 3647.

Thanks for all the kind words!
We did fall a behind our desired plan this year due to delays with machining.
But are hopping to get rolling and finish up ASAP.

Re: Team 3647.

What are the rollers made of; they don't look like pvc? Also, what is your gear ratio and which motors are you using?

The roller themselves are 3inch SCH 80 PVC pipe, with custom end caps made from Polyethylene plastic.
We used the SCH 80 since with a wall thickness of .3inches we were able to lathe in groves deep enough for the 1/4 poly cord belting.
The Motors at RS550s with a 16:1 p60, and a 1:1 pulley.

Re: Team 3647.

Well it has been busy day of us.

And the beast:
http://team3647.tumblr.com/post/17416778099

Electronics should be done by this weekend.
Aiming to have the shooter and bridge mechanism done by weds...

We have learned quite a bit this year. Going from doing things by eye and hand drills to a Team that CADs and CNCs has been quite an experience. And in some ways this has slowed us down this year, with delays with CAD issues and finalizing designs. But as they say, live and learn.
