Canadian polycord supplier

Do you know where we could get polycord, or something like it in canada?

Thanks,

This is what we use. I'm not sure how difficult it is to get McMaster to ship to Canada though, and if that is the case you may have better luck searching for urethane belting instead.

From mcmaster, they ship from Chicago. We ordered on monday and it arrived on tuesday (they're very fast). We are in the province of Quebec.

Re: Canadian polycord supplier

One of my teams is using a uniquely Canadian solution- Snowmobile fuel line! They build their robot in a snowmobile shop and discovered that the low temperature polyurethane fuel line has excellent frictional characteristics when interacting with balls. At first they tried joining it by trying to use a smaller tube shoved inside it in a sort of butt-joint. Then we discovered that you can heat it (gently) using a small butane torch to melt both ends simultaneously and then stick and hold them together until they fully cool (takes a good 15-20 mins).

We spliced one length and then tied either end to a car (we couldn't break it ourselves) and the weld was actually stronger than the tubing and it ended up failing along an untouched section.

If you'd like I can enquire as to if their sponsor can ship some out to you.

Re: Canadian polycord supplier

I've never had a problem getting McMaster-Carr to ship to Canada; I've ordered plenty of stuff from them over the course of many years.

They typically ship via Purolator next day; they can typically ship almost immediately for in-stock orders placed earlier than 14:00 ET. They will add shipping (includes customs brokerage; usually extremely reasonable shipping costs), duty (when applicable; they usually will inform you and remove items subject to prohibitive duties, unless you reconfirm) and Canadian tax to your order, after you submit it.

They take Canadian and American credit cards; they can also operate on net 30 days payment terms, but I don't know if they'll do that for a new Canadian customer.
