How to fit klipring

We are trying to fit http://www.andymark.com/product-p/am-0206.htm on http://www.andymark.com/product-p/am-0472.htm and i have no idea how to do it. Can someone tell me how to do it?

I found this to be a good depiction of how a clip like this goes on a shaft.
You need a "groove" for it to sit in.

Re: How to fit klipring

You use a lathe, and lathe in groves of the correct size into the shaft were you want the clip to sit.
Then you force the clip into the groove with a flat head or something.

A poor man's way to do this is to use a drill press and a hack saw.
