[FTC]: BIG WHEELS, small wheels, and ball deflection

Alright so as we have all found out, the balls of the field are really annoying to get stuck on. You could have big wheels so the balls can go under the center of the robot and it makes so you don't need as much, or any ball deflectors at all. Or you could use small wheels but then the robot gets stuck really easy but you are lower to the grown allowing you more room on the robot but then you need to make ball deflectors. Which do you think is better and what do you use on your robot??

Re: [FTC]: BIG WHEELS, small wheels, and ball deflection

Big wheels with a direct drive chassis. It allows us to move around much quicker than the other robots, and the balls flow right underneath of us. I don't think that the smaller wheels are worth it at all since they're only 1" smaller and you wouldn't be getting much out ofthe top.

That's some good points, I just want to mention that with the small wheels you can put double sided support on the wheels which makes your frame more robust, prevents axle bending (and wheels falling off), acts as a ball deflector and also puts a C channel between your wheels and the robot ramming your robot.
