Are you using the ZomB Dashboard System?

Judging from the number of downloads, ZomB is popular. Judging by the threads here on CD, its used by almost none. Our team wants to know if you use ZomB, and any good or bad experiences you've had.
(note: if you have used ZomB both in previous years and this year, select using ZomB this year)

If SmartDashboard hadn't appeared, I probably would've.

Re: Are you using the ZomB Dashboard System?

we build a custom dashboard every year. Easier to tailer to our robot that way.

Re: Are you using the ZomB Dashboard System?

Looked at it, but probably will end up using smartdashboard.

Realistically, I don't think we'll have any dashboard at all (ie: smartdashboard with nothing displayed). This is mainly due to a lack of student programmers to spend time doing nice things .

That said, I'm glad there is an opensource dashboard + driver station solution.

Re: Are you using the ZomB Dashboard System?

We tried to use the ZomB Dashboard last year and encountered too many problems, so many in fact that we just ended up not using a dashboard at all during the competitions. More likely than not this was because, when we encountered problems, there was nobody we could easily consult with to deal with them. We, and also many other teams, have discovered that dashboards are much easier to use when we wrote them ourselves and knew every little factor about them.

As a side note, the functions of ZomB, although numerous and taco-filled, did not accomplish everything we wanted a dashboard to do.

could you elaborate on the difficulties? and what did you want it to do?

Re: Are you using the ZomB Dashboard System?

All you need to know to make a dash is sockets... Which are fairly easy to work with. I will hopefully end up making something like a dash with java.
