Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
What does the Debug mode of the FRC Kinect Server do? What does the Kinect string on the DS Diagnostics tab say?

Quote:
As for the kinect server debug mode, it runs a small window that does nothing and presents nothing but the name in the top right of the window as (2012 FRC Kinect Server) then it does nothing. I just restarted my computer with the kinect in it and it still says no kinect on the DS but it still works in the kinect skeleton viewer sample or whatever it's called. |

Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
Hmmm.... If you definitely have the Beta2 SDK and the Skeletal Viewer works, but the Kinect Server doesn't I'm out of ideas. Sorry

Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
Be sure you are using the proper version of the Kinect Beta2 SDK. I was trying to install the 32-bit version of the SDK on a 64-bit computer and had the same issue.
If you don't know which SDK you have/need, download both the 32-bit (x86) and the 64-bit (x64) versions and try them one at a time. Good luck! |

Re: DRIVER STATION DOESNT RECOGNIZE KINECT
A timeout string means that the Kinect Server SW isn't running, and you may want to click the restart button near the LED.
If the string says No Kinect, that means the server is running, but that the server cannot open a connection to a Kinect device. Especially if you are on a slow computer, you may want to disconnect, reboot, connect, and listen to the sounds and watch that the "drivers being installed" stuff comes up in the bottom right. You could also check the Device Manager and verify that the drivers successfully loaded. Some MS guidelines are to plug the Kinect into its own USB controller, and especially don't plug it into a hub with lots of other devices. Greg McKaskle |
