Defense Question

Regarding rule G20:

[G20]
Robots in contact with the carpet and/or Key on their Alliance Station end of the Court are limited to 60 in tall. Otherwise, Robots are limited to 84 in tall.
Violation: Foul; or Technical-Foul for repeated or continuous violation.

Does that mean if we are playing defense on our own end of the court, we can't extend to 84" tall? It's my understanding that the entire court is carpeted. Is there anywhere on our own side of the court where we can be 84" tall? This rule is confusing.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Defense Question

Nope. You can only go a max. height of 60". Unless you are on the bridge, you can't be on the other side and extend. ALTHOUGH, if you set up a net 84" tall and the maximum width on the center bridge, you could do a pretty good job of blocking a feeder bot, I suppose.

Re: Defense Question

On your half of the field, the area between where you are driving and the barrier, you can only have your robot be 60" tall. Once you go over the barrier, you can be up to 84" tall. This is meant to in conjunction with the 14" extension rule to stop net robots we saw in 2006 I believe.
