Kinect issues

With bag and tag done, sleep accomplished, and homework caught up, I have decided to turn my attention to the Kinect. I haven't seen anyone else on here with this issue, but whenever I try to run the Kinect server, it keeps popping up saying that I need to install the SDK beta two, despite the fact that I already have. Can someone give me a for sure link of where to download it or give me any advice / ideas?

Re: Kinect issues

We had the same problem and realized that there are multiple versions of the Kinect SDK available for download. Check Control Panel > Programs and Features to see what version you have installed. You'll need to uninstall your current version anyway.

This is the version you need: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/kinec...elop/beta.aspx From: http://forums.usfirst.org/showthread.php?t=18738

Re: Kinect issues

Yah, that's where I got it from... The 32-bit or 64-bit download depending on the system, right?

Re: Kinect issues

We had been having some issues with the kinect as well, and I just got them resolved last night.

What happened to us is that we first installed the Kinect SDK v1.0 (not beta2), when we realized the mistake I think we (maybe) uninstalled the kinect driver, but not the other 3 microsoft kinect utilities, then after installing the beta2 sdk it would still never work (it just sat there blinking the green light and not being connected in the driverStation).

So last night I uninstalled all 4 components of the kinect SDK (pretty sure there were four, they were all adjacent to each other in program files), and uninstalled (or deleted, can't remember) the FRC Kinect server. Reboot (to be cautious).

Reinstalled Kinect SDK beta2, and the FRC Kinect server. Launched the DS, and clicked the little reconnect kinect button on the diagnostics tab, and the kinect came to life (it is visibly on when it starts working, you can see the laser in the left lens).

Hope this helps your situation.

(also, we did this on a non-Classmate pc, so we had previously installed visual C#)
