CANBus stopped working?

So we had our CANBus wired up to our Black jaguars and running them with our code and the motors worked and everything was good. We tested the communication in BDC comm and it was all good. About twenty minuted later we go back to BDC comm and we couldn't connect to any of the jaguars. We didn't change anything from before except we added a load to the end of the chain. We tried taking that out and it still didn't work. We've tried everything; hooking only one jaguar up to BDC, changing around the configurations of chaining, trying a brand new jaguar, checking the adapter and none of those things have fixed the problem or been obviously broken. After spending a lot of time thinking about this i'm not really sure what there is that could have gone wrong that we didn't test. Has anyone had this situation or has thoughts on how to fix it? Thanks so much!

Re: CANBus stopped working?

Disconnect all the CAN cables, connect the serial cable to one of the Jaguars. Make sure it's connected to the serial port (left side with 1010 on it). Turn the power ON and make sure the Jaguar shows a solid yellow light, meaning it can communicate through the serial cable to your BDC-COMM tool on your laptop. If it doesn't, pick another Jaguar or even a brand new Jag. If none of them work, I would suspect your serial cable/PC serial port.

Re: CANBus stopped working?

Also check your connectors, while I've yet to see this myself, several teams have posted pictures of the connectors with the pins damaged or bent into odd positions (seems to be a manufacturing problem recently). I suspect that this might mean they'd sort of work for a bit...then stop working because you aren't making good contact.

Re: CANBus stopped working?

Thanks guys! We got it figured out, turns out one of accidentally switched the adapter with the one from last year which needed a crossed cable.
