Drivetrain

So I've got several questions... Does anyone happen to have coefficient of friction data for the carpet that FIRST uses. It seems like information like that would be very useful in analysing possible drivetrain configurations. Second, is it legal for a team to custom cast their own polyeurethane tires? (for use on custom made wheels of course). Last, are we limited to purchasing all extra items from a restricted set of suppliers (IE: Small parts).

Coefficient of friction depends on the TWO materials reacting against each other, so I guess the answer would be "no".

As for where you can purchase stuff from: go read the manual. That's what it's there for.

Yes, I know what coefficient of friction is...I took Physics....What I was wondering was if anyone had happened to do some testing with the carpet, either for this year or for past years carpets. Just something to get an idea from.

As for the other questions, the only reason I asked here was that I initially didn't see anything in the rules. After reading through the rules several more times I answered my own questions.

And now I have another question, and no this one cannot be answered by reading the rules again. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts on the use of an air-actuated clutch were. That is, would it fall under the rules saying no additional air components?
