48 point autonomous

Ok, so after the Israeli regional is over, i now realize it is possible in theory.
Iv'e seen team 1690 scoring 4 balls in auto, 2 of them were their own, and 2 more were collected from the coopertition bridge and shot. Their bot has a design that allows them to drive to the bridge, touch it, collect the balls from the backside of the bot and shoot it from the front.

If they played with 2 teams who score 2 balls each in that match, we would have had a 48 point hybrid (how's that, car neck).

They only did the 4 balls thing once i think, but managed to get 3 balls the same way a couple of times more.

Re: 48 point autonomous

I think 54 points in autonomous is doable if the first bot to shoot is a catapult that's pre-charged. At one point I thought 10 balls was possible in the high goal, but after seeing the necessary timing requirements between balls so they don't get stuck I no longer think it's possible for the 10th ball to pass the sensor before the buzzer.

Of course, there's always the middle goals. 20 points from 2 partners, 12 from the 3rd. 2 of the partners go to different bridges for the remaining 4 balls (maybe more). If the middle bridge bot goes for the high goal and the side bridge bot goes for the middle, that's another 22 points. 54 easy points, or 56 if properly timed -- potentially more if there are more balls on the middle bridge. On top of that, the opposing alliance has to scramble to get enough balls back onto the field to get to the 2 balls/player requirement, so there's 2-4 balls available in tele-op before defense is even a factor. A good catapult (primary), a consistent layup bot, and a good off-centered key scorer are perfect for this setup. With 2 bridge stabilization devices on the alliance, it'll be very hard to overcome except by a similar alliance.

I doubt we'll see this until a district championship or St Louis though.

I should be heading up this weekend to see for myself and if all holds true, it should be another benefit the robot will have this year.

Now you need to remember that is only 36 points being scored.

Re: 48 point autonomous

It seems easily possible to do 36 with the ones given to teams, albeit two teams had non funcioning autons and the third was just amazing at shooting, 3322 props. But to say that two teams would travel to the bridges and tip and shoot would only, most likely, happen in nationals because of the caliber of teams there. Theorectically anything is possible and technically someone could do it but it has a higher probability of occuring at nationals.

During Hybrid, an additional 3 point bonus will be added for each Basketball that passes completely through any Hoop.

I still don't see how they can say a ball has to pass the sensor during hybrid for it to count in hybrid. 3 points can be the difference between a win and a loss in a good match.

Re: 48 point autonomous

If you look on youtube, you can find an amazing autonomous by team 3322, eagle imperiums. Search "Kettering 2012 finals frc" and load final match 01. it's great.

Re: 48 point autonomous

Any 2-sided-intake bot can easily get a 36 point autonomous just by dead reckoning and running everything. The onus is on the partners to get the timing correct
