Re: 2012 Fingerlakes Regional
The new ramp underneath is doing a very good job of keeping balls from getting stuck. Once I saw a ball going in as the bridge was coming down, so it got stuck. As soon as a robot tipped the bridge up, the ball came out. A couple of times, I've seen a ball sitting just under the bridge (within a foot of the edge, off the ramp), and our robot was able to get it out without too much trouble.
All in all, IMHO, an excellent improvement by the GDC. |

Re: 2012 Fingerlakes Regional
It's been modified, and works very well now. We did have one situation where we couldn't balance with another robot because of a stuck ball (so we balanced with a different robot!)
Edit: And might I add that the Inspectors are very diligent. We have had our ball acquisition re-measured twice, height twice, bumpers twice, and bridge drop twice. We have yet to have to change anything to be in compliance with the rules... Last edited by pfreivald : 09-03-2012 at 21:14. |

Re: 2012 Fingerlakes Regional
I'm referring to the change that was announced in the Team UPDATE - 2012-03-06 (under The Arena). It was in response to problems seen in week one, and discussed in the thread: Team update 3/6/2012
