Re: An Inconceivable shot from beyond half court.

Did you really intend to let both go at once? Can you edit your youtube title misspelling? We should push for GoPro in the KoP next year. Good work and good luck.

I'd like to say it was all by design, but the second ball moved up a little too quickly.

Amazing... almost... INCONCEIVABLE!!! (insert Wallace Shawn's voice here) There were a lot of awesome shots that weekend.. did you have video of the winning three-point buzzer-beater in semifinals?

I remember watching this shot in person. Between that and the fact that your robot performed fantastically all around I was extremely impressed. Also, think about putting more of the videos up! They are cool to watch.

Re: An Inconceivable shot from beyond half court.

Im trying to hunt down video now, but I'm pretty sure 2826 made the throw.

And Thanks! It was definantly the farthest we've gotten at a regional, not to mention the most exciting... I don't think I've ever seen a match come down as closely as the first final match! -out of curiosity, how did you guy's manage to create a program to track so effectively? -it was really impressive! Actually, on that note, how did your qualification rank drop into the 20's when you were easily the highest scoring?

We only got Coop points twice during the qualifications, though not for lack of trying-- that and a few losses dropped us down. We finished 18th. But our matches racked up the 2nd most hybrid points.

In one sense, our tracking is extremely simple. In another sense it uses some extremely complex vision processing.

John is teasing you! Ruthlessly... that's pretty cruel! Just tell them, it's our NAI turret targeting system. Stop by our pit at 10,000 Lakes and pick up a bot data sheet to learn more.

Re: An Inconceivable shot from beyond half court.

The GoPro's have their own plexy case, so not likely to become floor trash in a match. Especially if you can mount in a concave area of the bot. There aren't so many balls flying around near the bot that it would be taken out that way. But we saw many top-heavy tip overs where another bot's upper assembly could give you a heavy smacking on a bridge.

These matches are extremely intense. I was standing behind the driver on the field and didn't even realize we'd made this fantastic double shot.

Field-level visibility was an element that we definitely under appreciated. Balancing goes pretty well when you only have a 15 foot tether and sit the driver right in front of the bridge profile. ...now try it again from the far side of the bridge from a driver station straight in line with the bridge. You tip the bridge and lose all visibility of your bot. ...unless your driver is about 8.5 feet tall.

Talking Re: An Inconceivable shot from beyond half court.

I used my Robot Inspector credential to watch one match this regional from behind the scorer's table - you guessed it, this one!

When I saw the shot, I saw the second ball and thought, oops! Then I saw the first ball go in for 3 and heard the whole crowd erupt. I didn't even realize the second ball went in the 1 point basket until I saw the video.

This is definitely one of the most impressive things I've ever seen any of our robots do. I showed it to my class today and they erupted in cheering when they saw it!

Amazing shot, and this video inspired me to add a wide-angle camera to our robot during this upcoming weekend's Los Angeles Regional

I installed a Freestyle HD (similar to GoPro) in the Long Beach regional this weekend, the footage is well worth it!!
Here's one of the our team's videos (18 point autonomous, and we do a backflip off the coopertition bridge at the end):

That's a great idea... It would help a lot to get more awareness of FIRST out to the public, since videos like the one here can be appreciated by people not even familiar with the game.
