Re: 2012 Virginia Regionl
On behalf of FIRST Team 1086, I would like to congratulate and thank the following people and teams:
1885- After your two Engineering Inspiration awards last year, you were more than due for your first Regional Chairman's award. Your team has exemplified what Virginia FRC should be, it was more that deserved which is saying a lot considering some of the feats of other teams (388- getting studies that show FIRST improves math and science scores, 2363- reaching out as far as Ellen DeGeneres, 122- going on an outreach mission to Europe)! 384- For those of you who didn't have the pleasure of seeing this team up close, they'll amaze you. We were lucky enough to be pitted across the aisle which gave us a great opportunity to see some of our former mentors and alumni! They un-bagged nothing but a frame and drive train, literally, on Thursday morning and were regional champions with a beautiful, fully working robot by Saturday evening. Congratulations on the Regional Win and the Engineering Inspiration Award. 1262 & 435-Your teams played awesome with 384, both of your teams really deserved the win with the way you played in the eliminations. 2402- It was amazing to get to know your team throughout the build season and it was amazing to get to hang-out with you guys throughout the tournament. Your team of 4 to 5 students and 3 mentors rising to be the 7th seeded alliance captain was amazing. We are so happy we got to take a little part in such an amazing story! 2890-Thank you so much for selecting us to be assimilated into your alliance. Sorry that we weren't able to get a long run in eliminations but while it lasted our team much enjoyed the spirit and enthusiasm your team included us in behind the alliance stations, the spirit award was much deserved! 900- We were so excited to get you guys in the third round and can't wait to see your team again in North Carolina! Liz Smith- After our terrible experience with connection last year we owe a lot to the FTA that kept us communicating the whole regional! Also we loved the robo-towels you and Alex made for us! For the rest of you who haven't ordered any yet: they are so affordable, stylish, functional, and spirited so you should get yourself some! I am proud to say that my cheesehead now has one of the TPD stickers you gave us on it! All the Volunteers- I gained new appreciation for all the volunteers after our team (along with our friends, 540) stayed after for an hour to help them break the field down, in an hour we only got about half way done. They work so hard through the whole tournament including for hours after the final match is over to make the regional and the one after it a success. Without these volunteers the tournament would not even be close to the same! I am positive I have forgotten many people who deserve congratulations and our thanks, so if that applies to you I'm so sorry! We can't wait to hit the field again in Raleigh in less than 3 weeks, our robot will be really different but we'll be the same old team (so if you need help on Thursday don't hesitate to find us)!
