Battle Bots?

I am getting the distinct impression that this year robots will end up breaking. I can just so two r08075 going at it and collide head on right on top of the ramp, and one of them snapping. I feel really sorry for the teams that have to use w00d because that stuff is going to snap right in half.

As for battleing bots, yes, I agree that this year will be brutal, but last year was too. Trust us, team 384 had a hell of a lot of things to fix last year with 3.0.

Yes, just as in any year, robots will be breaking. They will crash into other ones on the top of the ramp. However, they will have a bin inbetween them. It's the bins that are going to take the largest beating. (For more discuession about bins, see one of the posts in this or the Gen. FIRST forum.)

many teams did a test on the bins, and the bins break real easy, instead of bending... what happens when the robots hit the pile from both sides at the same time? CrAcK

last year my team had a folding metal spear-like goal grabber that went up and down on pnuematics, and when a team crashed into us on purpose, it fell down and broke their robot for the rest of the regionals....

this year will be worse, because from what i can tell, most ideas for box grabbers use a forklift/prong idea that can easy be run into other robots

This years game is a mini version of Battle Bots! and dont be surprised if you see some bots with like flipping mechanism so they can flip the boxes and stuff! Its gonna be cool to see how this turns out.

Most of the robots will have no brains in the autonomous mode so they are going to be colliding head on at full power and not have the faintest idea that such a thing is occuring. Not to mention with the wide doors a lot of robots are going to have. Broken pieces are going to be everywhere!

i have a feeling we should create a new work group for our teams called "MEDIC!" I agree with you all, this will be rough, and if those boxes brake, isnt it illeageal to damage the field or parts? I think first should have done a little more reviews on the collision factors in this match. Well, things probably wont change, so coat your robot in about 1" pf foam padding, that could help, barely...
