Re: 2012 Waterloo Regional

The air was electric yesterday at Waterloo. I have been game announcing there since 2007 and it is a very fun regional. However, Friday is usually boring, boring, boring. Not this year. The teams in Ontario are getting much, much better and have some real legitimate high contending teams at Waterloo. That is without 610, 188, and 1241 attending this year. I can only imagine what it would be like with them in attendance.

There have been no co-op bridge shenanigans at Waterloo as every alliance has made an honest effort to do the co-op bridge.

Since there are only 30 teams at this event, our schedule allows for 8 minute cycle times so we are doing some things to keep it interesting between matches. Watch the webcast and send tweets to @pcopioli and @kkanagas to make your requests for things you want us to do between and during the matches. Today is going to be fun!

Paul

Re: 2012 Waterloo Regional

I've only watched the eliminations, but this has been a great regional to watch. Karthik's a great MC [I've actually learned about teams besides their names], the commentator's great, and for a small regional the quality runs pretty deep.

ALso, 1114-2056-4372 just banked 105 [with 41 point auto], which might be a new highscore(?) but have now just called a time-out. I wonder why.

Re: 2012 Waterloo Regional

Really enjoyed the story of coopertition around team 4372 in the finals (3:20). Arrived at 11am on Thursday with a robot that was 10" too big. Now they're regional champions.

Q6, from the view of our robot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8j_9vuCmhW8

More to come later, but they're rotating and converting rather slowly. I'll post again tomorrow.
