Re: 2012 FRC Arizona Regional
It was a great regional! Had to go to three matches in the final! 610, 1212 thank you very, very much! Now on to the championships!
Here is a copy of our email blast The Falcon Robotics Team of Carl Hayden High School with their robot Angelica's DREAM, named after the Valedictorian ASU Mechanical Engineering student Angelica Hernandez who has recently been accepted to Stanford University with a fellowship, won the FIRST Robotics Arizona Regional! The event was held at Hamilton HS in Chandler this past weekend. The team had 10 wins 1 loss in the qualifying rounds and was ranked number 2 behind Team 610 the Coyotes from Toronto, Canada who was 11 and 0. During Alliance selection team 610 selected us, and through our scouting data we determined that team 1212 from Seton Catholic School of Chandler would make a great alliance. So off we went into the finals. Quarter final match scores were 36 to 12 and 37 to 15 with our alliance moving on to the semifinals. Semifinal scores were 69 to 22 and 54 to 32 and that advanced us to the finals. There appeared to be a field management system failure that caused our robot to crash into the opposing alliance ramp and we remained there for the remainder of the match.( we don't know this for sure) As a result of this significant and potentially disastrous mishap, we incurred a huge amount of penalties and thus we lost the match. The Falcon pit team quickly inspected the robot for damage and found little. They patched Angelica back up and she was ready to go. In the two subsequent matches we scored 67 to 50 and 61 to 44 and were victorious! We helped team 610 to win their first Regional Championship in ten years and team 1212 their first Regional victory ever! The International championship competition will take place from April 25th to the 28th in St, Loius, MO. We have pics from the event, and if anyone else has pics please send them and we will add them to the album. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/1...37571592759441 But that's not all. The Falcons also won the Industrial Safety Award from Underwriters Laboratories for having the best run pit and the Innovation in Control Award by Motorola.... and wait! John Rangel won the Dean's List award and is now in contention for the national award. All in all it was a great Regional competition for Falcon Robotics! All of this success would not have happened if not for the help of the many mentors and sponsors, and I would like to take a minute to thank them here: Marzee Water Jet IMS Metal Southwest Fasteners Arizona Community Foundation Boeing JC Penney !nventivity Intel Gates Belts Sims Metal Management Fast Signs SEAD Architecture Microchip Critical Mass Communications Sling Rings Immedia EDU Team 39 Karen Suhm Jerry Little Marcos Acosta Carmen Cornejo Greg Harrison Steve Forbes Paul Price Srnka Johnson Jim Haugen Ken Whitley Beth Ellickson Eira Rodriguez Frank Neuperger Borna Emmami Last edited by falconmaster : 03-25-2012 at 01:38 PM. |

Re: 2012 FRC Arizona Regional
Congratulations, Fredi! I wish you guys the best at the Championship Event! Competition at this regional was tough for us. First year ever we had no technical issues, autonomous scoring, recovering balls and scoring in teleop, and easy balancing. Due to losses of 30-17, 22-39, 31-13, and 29-27 we didn't make it to the tournament, however. We did do successful coopertition bridges and were ready to make some but the opposing alliance couldn't get up the bridge. We did make 8 practice matches and every qualification match and never had a technical issue so we had a very successful season. Knowing the fierce competition at this regional I know you will do well at the Championship Event!

Re: 2012 FRC Arizona Regional
Congratulations Falcons on your second regional win in a row!
And it was great getting to know team 610, they are a class act. Also big congrats to the Falcons for the Motorola Quality award...I know that one means a lot And especially congrats to the CocoNuts for the Chairman's win!! We had a lot of fun at this regional, and are really excited about next year's new Tucson regional. That's right, we're getting TWO regionals in Arizona! |

Re: 2012 FRC Arizona Regional
Had an awesome time at the Arizona Regional at Hamilton High School this weekend! Great job to 1212, 610, and 842. Awesome and congrats to the Coconuts for their Chairman's win!
The Dragons had an amazing time, and really worked hard to reach a new level this season. We had no mechanical problems, passed inspection fairly early, went to practice matches, and applied for all awards. Our Chairman's presenters worked really hard and I am very proud of them. Our robot scored points and made it on the bridge, balanced several times. Congrats Dragons on winning the Gracious Professionalism Award! Now it is on to Las Vegas! |

Re: 2012 FRC Arizona Regional
As a member of the alliance (2840, 1726, 60) whose clocks you cleaned in the semi-finals, I am strangely gratified to see the alliance of 610, 842 and 1212 be the ones to do it.
I echo Squirrel's comment about you guys being a class act. Congratulations and good luck in St. Louis. |

Thank you so much for the congrats! I am deeply humbled and grateful for the experience with my team this year, we have grown so much, and Vegas, that is really exciting for us, as this will be our first multiple regional season! Now that we have worked out some kinks and solidified our driving, we are ready!

Re: 2012 FRC Arizona Regional
Wait a minute, it was the Quality Award that you won. Your robot was quality through and through.
During the first final round, it appeared that your roller was caught between the bridge and the ramp under the bridge. Didn't see how it got there but that looked like the cause for not moving at least from where I was sitting. Congratulations to your team for a well played regional. It was fun watching you pop two and three in a row from the side of the fender into the three pointer. |
