Re: Highest score so far?

I am hearing from asking around that the 46 point hybrid score in NJ Q82 was an error, but I am waiting for additional confirmation from the teams involved.

Also, E5 of Hatboro-Horsham was revised to a final of 103-0 (with 49 points coming from penalties, including interfering with a triple balance).

Re: Highest score so far?

The 46 points in hybrid was an error. 224 could only score middle and the most points they put up in hybrid period, according to my scouting, was ten. 869 was a purely defensive bot who could not score, which would mean that 1676 had to put up six baskets. Something that I do not remember happening.

Re: Highest score so far?

All I can say is, just wait for next week, at GTRW (ON2), when the likely top seeded alliance of 1114/2056 has a lot bigger pool of talent to choose from for the 24th pick.

Its been interesting at the 2 Ontario regionals thus far. Both times, its come down to the last round of matches to decide if 1114 would be the #1 seed, with 3161, 1815, and 610 all within closing distance at round 11 of the matches. Good luck for 1114 kept them in the #1 seed, with successful coopertition in their last Qualification match at GTRE from 2852, and a well timed unlucky match for 3161 in the last round at WAT.

Someone else seeding #1 would certainly make for a more even distribution of the firepower. A matchup of 1114/907 vs 188/2056 would certainly be more even than 1114/2056 vs 907/188. Would it make for better matches? I'm not sure; there is definitely something to watching the expert level at which an 1114/2056 alliance plays the game each year.

To me, the Montreal regional put up the most interesting show. The high volume of rookies, and the lack of any significant veteran powerhouses (the closest thing was 176 and 2590), lead to an impressively even matching in the eliminations. A quarter-final, both semi-finals (alliances 1,2,3, and 5), and the finals (alliances 1,3) all went to 3 rounds, with admittedly low, but at least close scores.

A bit late, but GTRW saw a massive upset with 3161 taking 1st seed, leading to finals between 2634-3161-1114 and 4001-2056-2200, finally breaking up the Canadian duo. No surprise that this matchup broke three records:

Highest total match score, foul points included: 191, ON2 E19
Highest alliance score, foul points deducted: 102, ON2 E19
Highest total match score, foul points deducted: 185, ON2 E19

Not sure if this is news, but semifinal 1 match 2 at lone star ended 106-90, with three foul points for the blue alliance. That is, if I can read the fms twitter code correctly.

I think that beats all three of those.

F1 at Troy blows everything else out of the water. 117. Don't know if there were fouls contributing to that.

What makes this even more impressive, is the fact that none of the 2 alliances did a triple balance.

Apparently we (our alliances) are really good at drawing fouls from our opponents.

F-2 Northville: 113 (27 foul points).
F-1 Troy: 117 (27 foul points).

Hopefully at MSC we will see some scores that high w/o the fouls.

Interesting. a year or two ago we did a penalty OPR style analysis that showed that 67 had the ability to turn penalty bots into non-penalty bots.

Now they have the ability to turn non-penalty bots into penalty bots?

I am now convinced the secret to 67 success is some sort of crazy FIRST Voodoo.

We also didn't triple balance together F-1 Troy. Without the foul points which all came at once, we probably would of triple balanced and scored 110 clean. MSC will be fun!

Yep. That's why I am half way through a week long pre-competition superstition routine.

Hey, I'm not going to question it. Now where is my sweatshirt???

I agreed. It was so fun to coach in this match. Our alliance fought hard and it was amazing to see the 36 pt auto get pulled off. I look forward to seeing all these teams at championships.

Re: Highest score so far?

Slight variation to the question:

What is the highest LOSING score?

We were the #8 alliance at MSC and went against the 67-469 "dream team".

We lost 90 - 97 (only 10 total foul points I think). It was a great match.
