How many teams drop from MI state championship?

Hey guys, looking at the Michigan rankings, our team is ranked 61st, and only the first 64 teams get into champs. My question is how many teams in the top 64 usually do not go to state? We want to know what our chances are. Looking at the spreadsheet, we expect to be in 70th place (approx.) at the end of next week. Will 6 teams not go?

Thanks

Thats pretty hard to come by. Usually the only teams that decline are the ones from the UP and the west side of the state. But I think last year no teams declined. So your gonna be close.

Sometimes no teams decline, sometimes 10 teams decline. I know in 2010 we were sitting at 67th and 4 teams dropped I believe and we just barely got in.

It's a wildcard, but I wish you the best of luck!

The projection of the cutoff point to qualify for state is 53 +/- 1, which means there could potentially be 9 teams or more ahead of you. As of right now, I was told that it is mathematically impossible for a team with 56 points currently to not make it to State no matter what happens in Week 5.

So far it looks like 7 of the Chairman's Award earners will be in the top of the rankings. 27 and 1718 have done pretty well on their first events. Rather than top 64 right now it is more like top 60 depending on the last 2 events for Chairman's. 46 points is cutting it pretty close to have a chance since last year's was like 48. Good Luck.

Re: How many teams drop from MI state championship?

We were in 68th last year with 48 points and we got an invite, but all of our students had gone off for spring break. I wouldn't count on it happening, but anything is possible. All it takes is a few teams short on students or funding and you're in.

This year, we are currently in 50th with 53 points. The kids all want to go to States, but I'm not holding my breath. A lot of teams still need to finish that second event. If we get in we will probably go, if not, then we can open up our robot and have some fun with it. Either way we still get to have a good time with the machine we built this year.
