You mean that you want an exciting, but fun and professional alliance selection?

In addition to high scores, close matches and a great performance by all?

A team tried to decline being an alliance captain - and were then told that they couldn't decline a captaincy if they wanted to continue playing. Eventually, they picked us - but only because we cheered loudly.

There were also, IIRC, a bunch of declines (not that declining is a bad thing.)

The Agency is looking forward to the creation of a temporary base of operations in San Jose on Thursday. Agents look forward to expressing impartial benevolence to all.

Of course. It's not that I mind how our team did, it's just that 4 declines and then us cheering so we would get picked when one captain was absolutely stuck was a little unsettling, to say the least. I don't know who on our team started that cheering, but it sure was embarrassing.

Well let's hope 100 gets picked for their skills this year. You sure have them.

The kids thought is was pretty cool to have Andy Baker sign off on our inspection. We were 4 ounces over 120 lbs and he made us take a air tank off.

Lot's of fine tuning those shooters going on. Looks like it's going to be a barn buster.

IIRC, you had about 20 of those plastic air tanks on your bot, I think you'll be ok

It was cool meeting Andy at the Israel Regional, awesome guy. Really wish I could be there watch the action and see everyone, this will be my first time missing SVR in 9 years.

Good luck today and tomorrow teams, make the west coast proud!

One of the best parts of yesterday was meeting Andy Baker. He even signed my shirt! https://twitter.com/#!/Team256/statu...477888/photo/1

Can't wait for qualifications today!

Don't forget about Steve Wozniak being one of the judges! It's awesome having these people here.

Today was just AWESOME! I can't wait for tomorrow! 2 more matches, alliance selections, and the possibility to play in the eliminations!

If any team needs a robot that can effectively play defense, feed balls over to the alliance, balance well, score 90% of the time in the middle hoops, have a working 2 ball autonomous in the top hoop, feed balls to hoopers in teleop and autonomous, and pick up any ball in comes in contact with, 256 is going to be open!

Re: Silicon Valley regional 2012

What a fantastic regional. I got to shake hands with Sergey Brin! His Dad was a judge and I had a chance to talk to him as well. The finals came down to the number 1 seed edging out the number 2 seed. There were a number of super teams including 254, 971, 1868 and the Warrior Borgs 3256? It is interesting that the mentors for 254, 971 and 1868 are all FIRST Alumni. Can you say SVR Dynasty? I knew you could.

PS. Long term FIRST supporter Joe Hering is ailing. Joe was instrumental in providing NASA support since 1999. If you ever watched a webcast of a FIRST event it was because Joe put his whole soul into supporting all FIRST teams, and getting the word out. Please say a prayer or send good thoughts his way.

PPS. Mark Leon needs new jokes - Someone should start a Mark needs new Jokes thread on Chief Delphi.

Re: Silicon Valley regional 2012

I want to make a shoutout to Team Tesla 4086. I was super impressed with their performance at the Silicon Valley Regional. As the only rookie team to get picked for eliminations and making a strong showing with their autonomous mode and balancing, and topping it all off with the Rookie All-Star Award, it was a pretty amazing regional for them! I'm proud to have mentored you guys!
