Silicon Valley Regional Thank-Yous

Wow, what an event! 971 has lot of thank-yous and congrats to dole out.

Our alliance partners 254 The Cheesy Poofs and 766 M-A Bears, it was a great pleasure working with you in eliminations.

254 had a bit of a rough start this year (wouldn't be the first time) but as always you climbed the ranks as you got the kinks worked out and it was very clear by the end of qualifications that you were the top pick. You've built another dominant scoring machine, and it can only improve from here. Watch out Central Valley!

766 is always a strong player in eliminations at SVR. You were extremely smooth on the ramp and played some great defense in the finals. Thanks for cooperating with us on our 4-ball autonomous routine, it was so much fun seeing that work!

We had a lot of great opponents in the eliminations, but 1868, 3256 and 751 were by far the scariest. 1868 going undefeated in qualifications with a great robot of their own, paired with 3256, one of the strongest robots at SVR and finalists at Davis was a potent combination. Adding 751, one of the best driving and defense robots on the field, we knew we had to bring our A-game. Thanks for some great finals matches!

A shout out to 604, 2073 and 192 for some INTENSE double-up defense in the quarter-finals. I was really glad to see 192 got their software gremlins worked out, unfortunately it was too late to really help your seeding. You've got a solid robot, we'll see you in St. Louis.

840, congrats on your EI. I haven't interacted with your team much but you sound well deserving.

604, you've got a really strong program and have been winning awards left and right for several years (5 RCA, 2 EI and 2 WFAA in the last 6 years!). Also a big thank you for the webcast so that us long-distance mentors and alumni can watch our teams play! Best of luck in St. Louis.

Andy Baker: I wish I was there in person to talk with you, but I know the students and mentors alike were really awed and inspired to have you as an inspector and get to show off their robot. We rely heavily on AndyMark products and it was a real treat.

254 and 1868 (again), for being great friends of our team, and sharing your field and resources with us at NASA Ames.

I'm sure I've forgotten some people and teams, my apologies it is not intentional. To everyone that's helped 971 in some way this year, a big thank you for helping the team get its first double regional victory.

On to Championships!

And thank you! We had some tough times on Friday, but you guys helped us out with our comm issues and stayed friendly throughout. It was a fun match and I'm looking to meet you guys again at Champs!

I just wish we went through our secret plan

Actually, it's 3 WFFAs.

But thanks for the kind words. We 604 alumni had a great time hanging out with our friends on 971 this weekend. You guys work really hard and produce slick robots. Keep it up!

Re: Silicon Valley Regional Thank-Yous

SVR was a fantastic comp and a real eye opener for my team. They now have a true appreciation for what it's like to play with the Big Dogs. It has inspired them to become better. Thank you all, especially 254, 971 and 766. You made SVR a truly memorable experience!
Winning the Judges award this weekend lifted the spirits of my team more than I could have imagined. When our turret blew off in QF1.1, we had clearly stated to them that they just needed to keep going, we had nothing to loose. So they did. Then in QF1.2, we again nailed both Autonomous shots.... with a now locked down turret! From that point on it was all defence. Sadly, it was not enough to overcome to powerhouse #1 alliance of 254, 971 and 766. Regardless, we love the fact that we never caved in and finished with style.

Thank you all and congratulation to 254, 971 and 766. You made SVR a truly memorable experience!

Re: Silicon Valley Regional Thank-Yous

I guess I will represent my old team 766 on their behalf:

Thank you 971 and 254 for picking us. We were absolutely ecstatic about being selected. The chance to play with 254 again brought back fond memories of the 2006 SVR.
