For a shooter wheel I would think it is strong enough.

It should be fine if you don't expect very high acceleration on your shooter, like sudden stops from full speed or sudden jumps to speed. Software/electrical things you could do is filter the speed output and set the motor controller to coast.
If your printer is like ours and gives you options in print density, make sure you choose the highest density possible.
