light bulb fundraising
Our team would like to look into the "lightbulb" fundraising idea from FRC. Can anyone give us some feedback on whether it was successful for your team and where is a good place to go to get the bulbs. Any experiences you may have had and are willing to tell us about would be greatly appreciated.

Re: light bulb fundraising
Our team (3528) has sold around 12 cases of light bulbs. We asked each student to try to sell one case. We have made about $2000, I think. You order the bulbs from FIRST. I think there is a link on the FIRST website to get started.

Re: light bulb fundraising
I can't say how many cases we sold, but it's not a small number.
Much like other groups might set up a table in front of a store or something, we set up a table and sell light bulbs. I think we get $12 for them, not $20. It seems people who know what these are worth buy a few, and everyone else buys one because they feel they are getting something for their 'donation'. Not to mention the many parents who bought some. Heck, I gave several away as Christmas presents... |

Re: light bulb fundraising
In just a couple of hours a friend and I sold 24 light bulbs to random people in our neighborhoods. We probably could have sold a lot more in a gated community. We made a couple hundred dollars. They are a good fundraising resource and a great way to promote FIRST.

Re: light bulb fundraising
We've been very successful. We decided that we didn't want to force people to sell lightbulbs themselves, just because that's not how we roll. So we sell them as a team, to parents, and to sponsors. We also are setting up a table at the local mall. It's a much better fundraiser than hexbugs.
