It lasts a year. But since they put out a new version every year, you effectively have infinate time with the software.

Sorry, I wasn't clear before, but I meant how long the software lasts on the computer before it expires? (i.e. 30-day trial, but seems you can renew with a serial number)

All Autodesk software initially installs in 30-day trial mode to give you a chance to get it running correctly before activating your free 3-yr student license.
Each year you can download new release so in effect you have a free student license for as long as you are a student.
