FIRST on Something Awful

note: some content on the following links may be offensive. chiefdelphi.com does not take any responsibility for you clicking them. its your choice. you've been warned. --Brandon

Addendum by Reed:
Yeah, I probably should've noted that, shouldn't I? If advertising for porn sites will get you grounded/arrested/shot, you might want to take that into consideration. Also, since this guy makes a living off making fun of stupid e-mails, make sure that you don't inadvertently send him new material.
In summary:
1. This is not a site for Puritans, the easily-offended, or Hillary Clinton
2. Don't feed the shark
3. "Tauntaun" is fun to say
-Reed

This is the latest tirade against Kamen and FIRST in general from our friends at Something Awful.

Of course, this isn't the first flattering article they've done.

Though granted, considering some of the trash talk that seems to go on in this forum, I think it provides a strong argument for karma.

-Reed
Yay! Exposure from the ICP haters!

All I am going to say is that I read the first paragraph, and closed my browser window. Now normally, I'm pretty objectionable to things like this. Insulting people won't get you far. At least not in this world.

Now you know why BattleBots is negative against FIRST. People like BattleBots for the destruction and robots only. But when they see FIRST, they think "DINKY!" even though robots are the vehicles for a much larger inspiration. And frankly, I don't trust anything with ePenis latter down in the article, thank you.

BTW, Beatty, I wouldn't read it.

Well, it's Something Awful. Keep in mind, they kick around the mentally impotent (Square fanboys, Insane Clown Posse fans, et al) for fun.

Though, in their favor, Dean Kamen seems to have trouble hiding his utter contempt for combat robotics.

The funniest thing was that his "inverted chessboard" can be made by just rotating a normal chessboard 90 degrees!
I hope the writer was only pretending to be that stupid.

I do find SA to be pretty funny and I'm not insulted at all.

But I will say... If Beatty were to go against this SA dude... My money is on Beatty

I like the comment on FIRST being a "parody" of Battle Bots. Isn't the other way around? FIRST did come...first.

Technically, Battlebots has been around since the 80's, just not televised until the last couple years.

SomethingAwful is pretty cool. Whether he means it or not, it is comical. Out of the hundreds upon hundreds of articles written on FIRST, does a single (or I guess there are two) that jokes about it really matter? It's funny...don't take everything in life seriously.

Ohh...one of my friends made it on SA: Cliff Yablonksi Hates You page. Hehe The pic was taken on the bus to regionals

jeeze, guys.. take the sticks out of your butts and lighten up a bit... it's sarcasm.

FIRST wants all the publicity it can get. people making parody articles about it is a type of publicity. if SNL made a skit where Tina Fey was some robot nerd chick in FIRST, i doubt you'd get offended... just take it with a grain of salt and be glad that someone is noticing FIRST!
