Team UPDATE - 2012-04-17

Quote:

Championship Bridge Points

There will be no change to the points awarded to Alliances for Robots Balanced on the Bridges for the FIRST Championship, per Rule [G40].

Thank you for a great 2012 season and good luck to all teams headed to the FIRST Championship!
Glad to see no changes to the Bridge Points. Overall, the scoring seems well balanced this year.

Scoring was very well rounded this year so I am happy that there is no change.

That is, towards the end of the season. At the beginning of the season, bridges might have been overvalued, but by the time the MSC and MAR Championships rolled around in week seven, the scoring was good because teams had adjusted and ramped up. I, for one, am glad to hear that this won't change at CMP.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

Agreed--now that we've seen all the regionals, I think it's right.

That said, props to the GDC for leaving the door open.

Re: Team UPDATE - 2012-04-17

I'm also glad that they didn't change the points; they seemed to be well balanced (no pun intended) this year. Too bad they didn't have this rule last year!

Thanks to the GDC for making the possibility known to us. If they had suddenly said "three robots now equals 50 points" there would be a firestorm, but they thought ahead and kept the possibility open.

For a second I thought they said "There will be no points awarded to Alliances for Robots Balanced on the Bridges for the FIRST Championship, per Rule [G40]." That was scary for a second.

You know, I was very critical of the GDC for a few things this year and in some cases it was warranted, but overall they do need to be commended when things go right too, and it did for quite a few things this year. Between being realistic and keeping the door open to change bridge scores and the new foul point system, things went pretty well with Rebound Rumble. So, kudos on a job well done.

Agreed! I'm glad they were open to changing things. People have been very critical of them in the past, but I think this year they got a lot of things right! +1 to the GDC!
