Go to Post everyone in FIRST has to do the cha cha slide at least once per season to get it out of their system. Now I can go back to doing it in the privacy of my own car (if you see a red Jeep in CT swerving back and forth don't worry, it's just me doing the slide...)! - KathieK [more]

Thank you to whoever put in the search function in the Newton sheet. I have added it to the others.

My apologies, they have all been fixed.

I have changed it so that it is now just a note sheet, still sorted by rank. The info displayed has not been changed, just the title. By putting notes here the originals can remain organized and notes are there for scouts to look at.

EDIT: fixed my previous post to reflect the changes.

EDIT: Archimedes also has a team # sorted version, but I could not figure out how to link the two sheets at this late (Early?) hour. If someone could do that to this document as well as the others it would be greatly appreciated.

The spreadsheet is public; it only needs to be shared with specific collaborators if you want people's emails to appear as their names (instead of Anonymous User ###).

Added, along with CCWM. All data displayed is courtesy of team 2834.

Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions

The OPR used; how is it calculated? By this I mean, how does the Co-Op bridge play into it? Is it the teams best event or an average? I would suggest using 1114's with the teams best event but I suppose it's up to you guys. I just think that best/latest event is the best measure of how good a team will be at Championships.

The OPR that is used in these spreadsheets is from 2834's spreadsheet. It assigns each alliance 5 points per CP earned in the match. This gives each alliance 10 points if a full coop is preformed (5 for a non-balanced coop) which is like half of a double balance that the teams could each be attempting if they didn't go for a coop.

I agree that most recent data is most relevant, but for an impartial objective spreadsheet that is shared by multiple teams, it is probably better to go by overall data, rather than deciding to ignore some data, and presenting it to other teams.

Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions

I can't believe how quickly these forms are being filled out. Curie already has all 100 teams orientation's filled out which was the original and main purpose of these sheets.

Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions

Crowd sourcing is awesome. What would you say to a column with "2012 record", "highest finish" and "highest draft position"?

As teams start to do this, don't forget to post pics to Thefirstalliance.org, it is a new and growing resource put together by a couple of Comets(3357) alumni to centralize the vast reserves of FRC Data!

Are these scouting materials something that could be attached to event pages on Thefirstalliance.org? They would be neat resources to see in looking back on events.

For example, include the Curie scouting page on the Curie division page on Thefirstalliance.org.

Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions

Or have The First Alliance serve the data that the spreadsheet is giving (teams in a division sorted by OPR, CCWM, orientation data etc...)

IMHO, it's more of a "novelty" - something that would be nice to know, but wouldn't be particularly critical to scouting (and would in turn clutter the spreadsheet), because such records are highly dependent on the environment and because most, if not all teams, will be making additions and/or changes to their robot that will change their comparative performance.

If someone were to do it, though, I don't think it would be particularly hard. I believe that Ed Law's database already contains data like that sorted by team (although it may not be cumulative, but rather per regional/district).

If you want to do it yourself, the gist of the process I used was to first sort the data into columns of text values (I had to create columns of the original values, and then input =TEXT(<cellref>,0) to do this), and then use VLOOKUP with a list of teams in said division to look up the corresponding stats.

There is one thing I'd like to make a note of though. While I understand that everyone wants to contribute as much as they can to these spreadsheets - which is exactly what we want, after all - I've had to revert a number of changes (to the formulas that summarize/filter the data) recently, because the editor didn't properly assess the changes they made. Because of this, I'm requesting that people please refrain from editing the formulas in the current spreadsheets until they have tested the formula in a duplicate worksheet to ensure that it properly works.

That being said, I really am amazed by how fast this has gone - once we figured out a way to display which teams didn't have data entered, the data for those teams was filled in within less than a day!

As an aside about TFA, I'd just like to say that although it was a bit tricky to work with, it really helped me with adding OPR and CCWM to the spreadsheet.

Where exactly do notes go? I have changed our teams entry to say "1 (21" long)" in the Wide robot field, but it appears to not be counting it in the number of wide teams now.
